Oma’s Casket Spray
I can’t really say this was a pleasure to do but I can say knowing how much she would have loved it kept me motivated. I decided to make our Oma’s casket spray for her funeral in July of 2015. My sister did the arrangements around the casket
I took some of her favourite flowers from her actual garden at the cottage, and mixed them with some light tones; Mostly white and blue hydrangeas, Casablanca lilies, lisianthus, snapdragons, and some beautiful snapdragons
I added the white ribbon with ‘Oma’ and ‘mom written on the sides for greens I used mostly salal leaf which is my absolute favourite filler. I also put in some bear grass just give some height and we used willow branches cut fresh from her trees (after stripping the leaves)
The arrangements were based on actual birch stumps from our cottage. We hollowed out the top about 5 inches into the stump. We then lined the inside with a thick plastic and stuffed a pre-soaked oasis foam inside. Tape kept this secured and we were able to arrange our flowers as needed
