<\/a><\/p>\nI then added plain pine boards to the top of the table and used chains and a hammer to gouge out some of the wood (and create some dents – That is Storm, my old dog in the pic :) )<\/p>\n
This is the FUN part! Using a blow torch, I burned the top of the wood to create some distress. I did this outside for safety reasons.<\/p>\n Once I was satisfied with the pattern, I sanded it lightly and added a walnut stain. Just so you know, when you have created rivets and gouges in wood, I brush the entire table with the stain. I then use an old rag and lightly wipe off the wood. The gouges will stay darker because the stain remains…it just adds character. :) (and it takes less time to dry) Do not stain inside!
